I have been using Espia Imaging verison 3.0.0.1 in My VFP5 application for years and it has been great until the introduction of Windows ME. Now my users are experiencing lockups when Espia is loaded or shutdown.

Since Espia is no longer supported, does anyone know of a fix.

Thanks

Well, from the perspective of a programmer relatively new to VFP, the combination of an older version of VFP, a non-supported 3rd party program, and a new OS doesn't sound very healthy. I suspect it's time to make changes.

The only practical suggestion I have is to search the web for "Espia Imaging" and see what you can come up with. Perhaps there's a special interest group somewhere which can help you. Of course, maybe that's what you're doing here. BTW, have you searched the Universal Thread yet?

I have been searching the web for the answer and it seems that the developer of Espia has gone to work for Microsoft and can't be reached.

I have produced an upgrade to my application using VFP6 and Pegasus Imaging instead of Espia, which solves most of the problems with one major exception.

Espia allows you to put images on VFP reports that are not (jpg, bmp, or gif). I have been taking a closer look at how they do that and it is simply with a function that converts the image format to one that can be printed by VFP. For example in the "Picture from File" expression of the OLE object on the report form they enter:

CONVERT(imagefilename)

where convert is a function that creates a .bmp file from the imagefile that is used on the report. It is this conversion function that calls the Espia Library and causes problems with Windows ME.

Does anyone know of another way to convert image files to other types such as .tif to .jpg or of a third party imaging package like Pegasus that will allow you to include .tif and other non-VFP supported formats on reports.

Thanks...Rick
