Anyone else come accross a problem with being able to remotely licence a 3300 with the AMC? This was working fine till customer chnaged their network config without telling me. It now reports it can't communicate with the AMC and check internet. I have HTTPS access working fine inwards and can get out to internet no problem from the maintenance console and have set up a seperate external IP to the switch with 443 port forwarding set and its releasing the correct IP. I have now run out of ideas and mitel tech support are not being very helpful.

Is the gateway defined in the 3300 current/correct? The 3300 needs to be able to reach the AMC. The AMC needs to be able to reach the 3300 so appropriate ports need to be open in the firewall.

The single biggest problem with communications is the illusion that it has taken place.

Yup, I can tracert from the ESM maintence command and it gets out no problem (no ping cos its release 7 software) and it only needs port 443 open according to mitel and that is open.

The AMC reports a succesful sync but the 3300 reports a failure and that it is unable to contct the AMC and to check internet connectivity. Like i say I can reach the 3300 from my office no problem so I know it is connected and the correct port is open.

Make sure you have a good dns setting

NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED!

I don't think port 443 is the right one. Port 22 is what I have always used/tested.

Simplest test for the network.

Download PuTTy

Configure your laptop/pc in the same VLAN/Network as the controller and then initiate a SSH session using port 22 to host name:
register.mitel-amc.com

If you get a login prompt, you're good to go.

DNS is good, cqan resolve from and ESM maintenance prompt.

Port 22 is for the SI installer tool and is used for the first registration. 443 is used subsequently and uses sync.mitel-amc.com for upgrading licences.

AMC is seeing me and reports a synch with the correct IP address but times out at local end.

Looks like it may be a problem with the (cisco) firewall as although I can log in remotely from my IP address in the office no one else can. It tries but is so slow as to be effectively unbusabloe which matches with the time out report of the licence upgrade.....I'll keep you informed but if anyone has any other ideas .....

sorted, the problem was the MTU on the Cisco firewall..set to 1327 no got, got it set to 1500 and it went straight in an licenced...

Interesting. Thanks for sharing.
