I was looking for an ESI users. Any ooptions, caveats, worries, pitfalls. I know next to nothing about this company.

ESI makes a very good product for many applications. Like any product in any industry, it all depends on what you need. ESI is not strong in PRI, toll restrictions, least cost routing and zero destination from auto attend and mailboxes. Small boxes limited in auto attendant choices. That said, integration is very tight and has a high level of "user friendliness". Software is upgraded via remote. Their technology has advanced and they have left some not so old systems orphaned. They have a demo kit with script that allows a sales person the ability to do a GREAT demo with very little experience.
Repost if there is anything in particular that you're looking for.

I have a friend whom runs a Toshiba phone system dealership, and he also sells ESI. I used to work for him on both types a few years ago. ESI is easy to use, easy to set up, but not very sophisticated in it's feature sets. I would look at it against other systems, and know, they are fairly new at supporting anything above a small number of extentions. They can support recently many more exts.. but I do not know their track record in that.
Get some references from your ESI vendor for your size application, 3 years after implementation is adequate to give a reference, 2 years minimal.

You do not always get what you pay for, but you never get what you do not pay for.

thank, I think we are going asterisk all the way.

Have you checked out Avaya's IP Office, or the Partner ACS?

Avaya is way too expensive. Might as well go Cisco all the way for that price. I'll check out Partner ACS, never heard of them.

The ip office is reasonably priced. It is an SMBS product. The partnner ACS is an avaya product, and very reasonably priced. If you are going to pay the price, stay away from Cisc o , You can get an avaya product which is better than the cisc alternatives. Cisc o has a very good reputation for data, but voice, lol! try again.
