Customer has purchased a DLC0 - PRI card for their phone system. Does anyone know how this cables out to a RJ45 jack for PRI interface?

PRI/DS1 uses an RJ48C/X Modular Jack wiring arrangement from the service provider. That is the only Modular Jack designated for PRI/DS1 terminations.

An RJ45 wiring arrangement WILL NEVER provide DS1 service! It is for Tip/Ring dialtone with padding resistors.

Too much bad information has been floating around the industry for far tooo long concerning Modular Jacks and "RJ"!

What does the documentation say about connecting the circuit?

I agree with your statement about the RJ48 from the service provider. However from the customer equipment, a RJ45 jack can be wired, pins 1,2,4 & 5. A T-1 cable then between the service provider and PBX works.

Actually,!!!! it is a "miniature modular" jack with x positions and y connections!

When I was a tech writer writing manuals I used to refer to these as an "8-pin/8-position miniature modular jack (RJ-45 style)"

ISDNman,

You are correct, but even the Bell System rarely used the word "miniature" in relation to the miniature modular plug and jack hardware.

But unfortunately the "RJ" term is probably one of the MOST misused and abused terms in this industry!!!
