eseutil repair or restore?

More a repair/restore query than Pub Folders so have posted here.
Have just virtualised our Exchange. Came back up fine with mail coming in & out except for Public Folders. Store will mount but not accessible. Ran eseutil /g which confirmed database is corrupt. Can do a restore however the Pub.edb is in the same storage group as one of the main Priv.edb therefore share the transaction logs. Will a restore of public folders from last night impact on the priv.edb regarding the mail which has since come in.
Is it better to run an eseutil repair on the Pub.edb whilst both stores are dismounted?
