Hi, sorry if this is a real goofy question...
I've previously developed a routine within Excel that uploads a file to SharePoint and triggers Outlook to send an email to advise that a new file is available. The trouble is the files can sit there and not be dealt with unless I follow them up manually and send reminders or get on the phone to chase.

I'm being asked to create another similar routine, however is there anything within SharePoint that I could use that has some kind of timed escalation? or is there a completely better way to achieve the same thing

Thanks in Advance

Start looking into create SharePoint Designer Workflows.
When you add files to a library, you can have a workflow email a user or group of users.

You can also use a workflow to send a reminder email X days after it's uploaded.
