Can you build any type of logic into how a trap is measured?
I.e. By default the MIB defining TapeDoorOpen is classified in the MIB as a Critical state. (Because the Tape Unit is not operational) However, the door might had been open while the tch was changing tapes. This is not something I would want to get a page for, unless the door has been opened for a specified amount of time. Or is open during the time at which the backup is about to run.
In another example. What if I wanted to send an email to the local tech to run a cleaning tape when a trap is received to do so. If that message was not cleared, and the device is still trapping on that error after x amount of time, send me a page.
I know you can change the severity classifications. But what if I wanted to either build logic into the notification tasks, or set thresholds?
I've just about determined that the "Tape Cleaning" scenario is probably going to need to be performed by NetIQ. However, I would hope that I could at least perform the first scenario.
Any thoughts?
