Recently I've noticed that the ESA001 errors has begun to appear on our switch. No changes have been made that I'm aware of which would cause this.

Since the error began I've noticed that Virtual Office logins from IP sets are now delayed (significant delay of a few minutes).

Does anyone have any ideas?

Succession 3.0 (Sig Servers sse-2.11.14).

Error Description:
>err esa001
>

ESA0001
Remote Virtual Office user logged in from a site without ESA support.
Action: If this user dials the ESDN, their call will not be redirected
to the PSAP serving their current location (remote) -- It will be
directed to the PSAP serving the site local to the error message
(local). The remote site signaled that it did not support ESA for
Virtual Office. To correct the issue, make sure the software version
of the remote site supports ESA for Virtual Office. Additionally,
confirm that the remote site has the ESA package and that the customer
ESA data is configured.
Severity: Info

When a VO set redirects is registration, there is some information passed between the call servers.

Some of that information is the ESA configuration. If you set up ESA in both systems, this error will stop.

This may have started after a firmware upgrade on your phones? Or the addition of some new Phase 2 phones on the network that support this VO ESA Cookie?

there is only one system in my enironment and we do not (to my knowledge) have anything for ESA configured. This could be the problem?

You are correct there was a forced download of firmware to the sets last week.

Is there anything that can be done to correct this new issue where the VO download is now taking minutes instead of seconds?

can you provide me any guideance or nortel NTP's on this (please.... looking for a quick way out)...

Nortel Emergency Services NTP for Release 3.0 is available at Services

I won't recommend a 'quick way out' for E911. You need to configure it properly for your environment. Peoples lives are at stake. Live with the errors until you get a plan in place. This is something you need to get right the first time.

I was under the impression we couldn't due ESA routing due to the way my company chose to implement. Instead the direction chosen was to install visible (red) emergancy phones strategically throughout all offices.

What we have implemented is a central 81C site, with IP phones connecting directly to this PBX. No remotes, BCM's or branch offices.

Ok, there are a few ways around this via programming that I can think of. I, unfortunately, cannot assist as you due to the liability concerns of not having a proper 911 configuration.

Hope you understand MY hands are a bit tied.... If something were to happen, and someone did not get the proper emergency response..... you can figure out the rest yourself.

[!]My only recomendation has to be that your company evaluates the liability risks they are open to without a proper E911 configuration.[/!] 911 is more than just the ability to dial the digits 911. It's CLID reporting to the PSAP, etc...All this comes with ESA.

Most of the 'seasoned people' here will agree. 911 is NOT something you want to play games with.

One more thing....

In case you haven't registered for the E911 webinar (link in my signature) you may want to attend, as well as someone from your legal/risk management.

Patrick Haley, the Director for Government Affairs with NENA, Derek Lanham from Inova Health, and myself will be providing an in depth review of E911 in general, and quite a bit will deal with liability concerns and technology commonly available to deal with situations like yours.

The webinar is NOT a "Buy Nortel E911" sales pitch. It is about how to implement E911 in the enterprise, and applies any ANY PBX.
