Has anyone experienced problems with the IP address source parameter on ERS 5500 switches (specifically ERS 5520) changing on their own? This is the same parameter as the IP Configuration/Setup menu item "BootP/DHCP Request Mode".
I use Opsware NAS to monitor configuration changes, and have had issues where this parameter changes without anyone logging into the switch.
This paramenter has also changed during upgrade from 5.0.6 to 5.1.1 software. An example was prior to upgrade on one of my switches, the parameter was:
ip bootp server disable (on 5.0.6)
but after the upgrade to 5.1.1 it became:
ip address source bootp-when-needed
...so basically prior to the upgrade bootp was disabled entirely, while afterwards bootp was enabled, if needed.
I've managed to lose managment with some switches that the parameter has changed on and then the switch is power-cycled. I know that no one has logged into the switch and made the change on any of these. It is annoying for this to happen. I have full Nortel support on my switches but cringe these days having to explain anything to a first-level tech.
