While trying to install Exchange enterprise edition onto NT server 4. I get a number of error messages towards the end of the install process, while registry changes are being
made. It goes as follows with these exchange server setup messages :-

*********************************************
"The command 'lodctr dsactrs.ini' failed returning an error
code of <32>"
*********************************************

press OK and another one appears.

*********************************************
"processing file 'd:\server\setup\i386\server.ins' at or
near line 153

An internal component has failed

Microsoft Exchange server setup ID no: c103798c"
*********************************************

press OK and the last one comes up.

*********************************************
"An internal component has failed

Microsoft Exchange server setup ID no: c103798c"
*********************************************

press OK to this and the setup process terminates without exchange being installed, although files are dumped on the hard disk

I've examined technet and can only find this error message referring to other lines in the server.ins file and a fix that doesn't work relating to perfc009.dat and perfh009.dat files.

Does anyone have any ideas as to the cause and possible resolution ( I've tried re-installing NT server so that didn't work. I can't see that putting exchange enterprise onto NT server should be a problem either ).

thanks in advance

Mike

hey guess what ! just by trial and error its sorted. Simply shut down nearly every damn service on NT service and it completes the install, nothing like trial and error eh
