Errors when using book marked calculation in a protected form

I am currently working on a 9 page protected form. I am having problems getting the formulas that are built on book marks to calculate correctly. I have also found several Microsoft notes that indicate this is an identified problem. Does anyone have experience in working through these problems? We need the best of both worlds - the word processing features of Word and calculation capabilities of Excel.
 
Hi Beanbag, are the calculated fields you are having problems with calculating from another calculated field? (for ex. Field C is a calculated field that equals Field A + Field B, and Field D uses Field C in a calculation) In this case, if I use the bookmark name "Field D" in the calculation (ex. Field D*.10), it will not calculate correctly (it doubles the answer). If it is possible to set your form up in a table format, you can get around it by referring to the fields as cell references (ex: A4), instead of by their bookmarked names. The cell references are simply Col 1, Row 1 = A1, etc. Then the formula would be D2*.10, and it returns the correct answer. If you can't set the form up in a table, try doing the calculations from scratch, don't use the bookmark name (incorporate the formula of the bookmarked field into the new formula). I got this to work also. If the formulas get a little long, you may want to get them to work in Excel first. Excel will help get the parentheses in the right place, then go back to the form and do it exactly as you did it in Excel. Or you could link to Excel and bring it into the form, but I think you then have to break your form into continuous sections, and NOT lock the sections of the form that are linked to Excel. This gets messy, I think I've tried that route and it ultimately wasn't user friendly. I agree, it would be nice if Word had the awesome power of Excel for instances like this.
