I'm compiling my own javas and downloaded javas but I always get an error when it tries to compile it. It's different everytime. I'm downloading from the Oreilly Web Site. I don't think that their book examples are all going to have errors, but there not compiling on my computer. I just downloaded Java 2 SDK Standard Edition 1.3. if someone could help me that would be great. Thanx

Did you set the PATH so, that your computer knows where to find the executable file, eg. javac and java by itself?

in windows, you have have to
"set PATH=%your_disk_drive%/%your_jdk_directory%/bin"

I wrote a faq on how to do this at

good luck
