Need som help, we are curently using DDS2 tape drives and Arcserve 6.5 for Win NT. I am now encountering a number of drives in our data servers which have the same error messages.

W6905 The tape drive is having problems writing data. No data loss but reduction in tape capacity.
Error E6913 Your data on tape is at risk do not use tape again.

The drives have been regularly cleaned and new tapes used but the messages still appear. Is this a fatal problem with the hardware?

This information comes from the tape drive and is passed through to ARCserve. When a tape drive is having problems writing data it will just try to rewrite the same data again to tape. If this happens a lot you loose capacity on your media because the drive writes the same data twice or maybe even more.
I think you have to consider replacing your hardware.
Do you have any problems restoring data ??
