I'm used to working with AIX, so you can imagine my frustration, when I kept looking for something like "errpt" on a Sun Solaris Server without success...
I have no clue wath errpt actually reports, got no AIX experience.
with sol you can use the management console for log-file viewing or you can check
/var/adm/messages
Most of the stuff that keeps you awake at night gets logged in there.
In Solaris, logs are stored in couple of files, mainly under the /var folder. Checkout following log files:
/var/adm/messages file
/var/log/syslog (If you have syslogd running and /etc/syslog.conf has been configured..
/var/log/sulog file
/var/cron/log file
These files shall keep logs of the system.. THe applications running on your server may kep their logs somewhere else in the system..
Solaris does not have similar tool to errpt.
The only way to check the errors in Solaris is to use /var/adm/messages file or dmesg file as described above.
For detailed hardware/software monitoring I would recommend installing Sun Management Center. This could give you the similar functionality of the AIX errpt tool.
