When trying to print to Lexmark 4039 laser printer following a return from a Sleep Mode the following error is given: "There was an error writing to LPT1: for the printer (Lexmark 4039 Laser Printer Plus): The printer is out of paper. Add More Paper." The printer is never out of paper and the error occurs only after returning from a sleep mode. A cold start will cure the problem until the computer comes out of a Sleep Mode again. Shut down after returning from a Sleep Mode does not complete and hard power shut down is necessary. Also when returning from a Sleep Mode the NumLock is not on. There is no problem printing or anything else until returning from a Sleep Mode. What an inconvenience...
What is causing this error after Sleep Mode restore?

Using Windows 98SE, 256MB, AMD Anthlon 900Mhz, Award Bios 07/05/01, Chipset VIA VT8363A Apollo Kt133A, MB Abit KT7A (-Raid)

Try an IBM 4039 print driver. If it helps, great, maybe that driver will work for you (Lexmarks are IBM clones). If not, then take that fact with the numlock key issue, contact the mainboard manufacturer. Advise them of the problem, there might be a bios update that resolves this.

Personally, I would bother with a bios update that could leave my motherboard dead, I would just turn off the power management in your cmos setup (set to disabled), then boot to windows and turn off all the power management features there).

Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.

Also make sure you have the latest drivers for that motherboard.
