I have a program that I'm finished with that sends data over a null-modem cable to a recieving computer. The program works fine only on the computer that it was written on and a laptop running Windows 95. Any other computer that I use it on (atleast the computers at my workplace) i get an error "MSCOMM32.OCX is invalid".

I'm wondering if I need to include a file to make the windows compatible with the version I used to make the program.

Any ideas?

thanks,
Neal

You need to package and install your application onto the client machines in order to make sure all needed components are available and have the correct version.

Could you be more specific? I'm not that familiar with programming. All I've done so far is make a program .exe file, and I'm not familiar with making it compatible with all windows.

Use the P&D (Package and deployment) wizard which shipped with VB (Under Start - Programs -VB, or, better use the Visual Studio Installer available from the MS site, (which uses the Windows Installer), which will handle the installement to NT 5 machines much better with very few problems as compared with the P&D.
