Error with MFC42.DLL

Whenever I try to open an application(Frontpage, Clearcase, Norton Antivirus etc) I get the error message
"The ordinal 6880 could not be located in the dynamic link library MFC42.DLL"

Tried, re-installing applications but did'nt work. any ideas on this.

hi,
You have installed some package that has replaced
mfc42.dll with an own copy. Check date and version of it.
To restore normal situation, begin to re-run the actual
ServicePack you have, and then try by an higer, if you want.
