Has anyone seen this. Lately as people have been logging in and attempting to check their mail over the internet the tool bar across the top has dissapeared and what we get is the following error message.

"Exception: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: lotus.notes.apps.actionbar.ActionBar.class"

Any suggestions on how this can be fixed.

Thank You

Hei, larrylaffer replied to my query, but nothing was type am I missing something?

Hi,

This is an old problem that I faced many times.
First of all: make sure that the security settings in the browser allow for the Java to execute. A "medium" setting in IE will do.

Second (and this is usual the problem): make sure the users chooses "Yes" when prompted to download and install/run the Java applet when they log on the first time.
When a user chooses "No" the system will never ask again and the bar will never appear. Workaround: delete all off-line content in the IE options, and the prompt will appear again the next time.

Third: Make sure you are using the latest version possible of the mailbox design and run the most recent server you can.

Fourth: Users using IE6 on a new Windows XP system do no longer have Java support and can not use the Notes webmail. You will need to download and install the Java machine from Sun to make it work.

Hope this helps!

I am getting the same error,
I have XP installed and the latest Sun Java installed
I have security set to medium
This seems to be common to a lot of Domino Applets
Some of the Errors Spotted Include

java.util.zip.ZipException: ZIP file must have at least one entry

load: class lotus.notes.apps.outlineapplet.OutlineApplet.class not found.

java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: lotus.notes.apps.outlineapplet.OutlineApplet.class
(Then Lists a lot of Sites that it checks)
then
Caused by: java.io.IOException: open HTTP connection Failed.

Any pointers on this would be greatly apreciated
Thanks

That solution (Unchecking the JAva box in Advanced) only works in non windows XP as in XP the Sun Java is the only java available. are there any other Solutions (I went through the developer Forum and found no fixes for XP) solution could be to go back to NT or 2000 so that the old MS java engine can be used.....

I am running XP without any problems:

IE 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633
Java Plug-in 1.4.1_01
Domino R5.0.11

Hope this is helpful.
