Error while doing ontape restore..

I am new to informix DBA job.I am trying to do the restore from ontape 0 level backup on a seprate machine.I am using ontape -r.After backing up logical logs I am getting following error:

Log salvage is complete, continuing restore of archive.
Physical restore failed - Bad log file configuration for log 2.

Can some one tell me the cause of the error.

I don't know the cause of the error.

After running ontape -r I usally say no when it asks if I want to back up the logical logs. It will ask you at the end of the restore if you want to complete your restore from remaining logical logs. You can do so then.

I've never had a problem recovering like this.

What I think your problem is that ontape is trying to backup logical logs from disk that were not backed up previously. Since you are restoring to another machine those logical logs aren't there to back up. Answer no to the salvage logical logs and use your backup log tapes if you have them.

I found the problem.The version on the other machine was different.The backup was made with version 9.21 FC5 but the version on restore machine was 9.21 UC5.Once I changed the version it worked fine.
