Hi there,

I have 2 Windows 2000 identical servers where I also have SQL Server 2000 running. I can create a SQL Server data source on server A connecting to server B, but not on server B connecting to server A.

The error I get is:
---------------------------
Connection failed
sqlstate 'hyt00'
SQL Server error 0
Microsoft ODBC driver timeout expired
---------------------------

I checked the SQL Servers on both servers and they are both running.

Any help please?
Thanks,
J.

P.S. I posted this on the Win2K forum as well just in case I am at the wrong one here...

Another test that comes to mind, if this is indeed the case, in connecting to the server that is timing out, use the servers IP address to connect. Does this work?

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for all the replies.

I found the problem. It was that in the local area connection properties there was a DNS suffix entered, I deleted it and now I can create a data source without any problem.
