Error while converting Cognos 6.0 to Cognos 7.0

Hi,
I have Cognos 6.0 reports which work fine in Win2000.
I have to convert all these reports in Win XP with Cognos 7.0.

When I run reports I get error like

Administrator Version has encountered a problem and needs to close.
We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Please tell Microsoft about this problem.

and Impromptu closes.
Anyone has idea regarding this.

Hi. You need to have Series 7 MR (Maintenance Release) 2 to work with XP. No testing of earlier versions have taken place because the OS is newer than the original Series 7.

Do you have MR2?

I am using MR1. I don't have MR2.
I am having Cognos Admin Version 7.0.702.0.
Can u please tell wat I am supposed to do, so that my reports will work.

Hi Naveen.
You are going to have to get hold of the later version. Contact your supplier and ask them to arrange the shipment.

Few reports run in Win XP without error, but others give me the above problem.
Is there anyway that i can solve this problem.
I don't think I can go for MR2. I have to do in Cognos MR1.
Can u tell me pls if I have to run this report in my system wat can i do.

Actually, MR1 should not be the problem. Cognos states that XP should work with the Series 7 products as of MR1. See:


Naveen - provide some additional details (database platform, exact error messages, etc) and we'll see if someone can help isolate the problem.

When I say don't send Impromptu closes.

If you are using Impromptu I've encountered this problem reading from an Oracle DB.

If this is your problem, do a search on the cognos support site under "oracle decode" and the answer will be presented.

You will have to edit both the impromptu.ini and cogmord.ini files.
