When i try to install Windows 2003 guest OS i get a message before the windows start to install.

This is the message:

Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition Setup
===========================================

Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer.

Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer, and that any disk-related hardware configuration is correct. This may involve running a manufacturer-supplied diagnostic or setup program.

Setup cannot continue. To quit setup, press F3

This is strange because i have an empty disk connected to the virtual machine and i'm using the same process that i had used before.

What should be the cause of this problem ?

what edition? workstation? GSX? ESX?

An empty disk connected? real disk?

Chacal, Inc.

does the file (your virtual disk) exists? did you change the virtual SCSI card?

Chacal, Inc.

Yes, the file exists. It's not the first time that i create a virtual machine.
What do you mean with the change of virtual SCSI card ?

sorry, in workstation and GSX virtual SCSI can be lsilogic or buslogic...

did you have the correct permissions in the virtual disk? I mean the file in the VMFS volume... e.g. if you create the virtual machine as root and you try to install as another user.

Chacal, Inc.

I had created the VM and the Disk as root and started as root as well.
If i copy an existing virtual machine, i could start the OS, but if i want to create a new one i got that message :(

this is quite weird... you should have no problem! what does EMC say? do you have support?

ESX 1.5 is quite old, are you planning to upgrade to 2.5?

Chacal, Inc.

Now i do not have support and i Plan upgrade to 2.5 in the next year.
