I have set up a VPN Connection connecting from my home PC to the works SBS Exchange server. It works fine when the VPN connection is connected.

If the VPN connection is down, when I send/receive in Outlook on my PC, the POP3 accounts work ok but the Exchange account reports an error.

Question.

Is there a setting in Outlook to stop this error message when Exchange is offline?

No. You need to look into Outlook Anywhere which will do away with the need for the VPN or any errors.

May I suggest a TOTALLY different approach?

Delete your local account (at home) and set it up again using a VPN connection.
This time do NOT select a pop3 account but EXCHANGE SERVER witch CACHE

In this way you have the same information as in the office. You can use ON and OFF-line.....

It synchronyses everytime when you make a VPN but does not give errors without a connaction.
Just be aware that when you sent mail without a connection, it will wait in the local OUTBOX untill a VPN connection is established.

Good luck Harpert
