I am using CE 10 and have published a number of reports. When I try to refresh using the guest account, I get an error saying I don't have "Refresh the report data" rights and to see my administrator. Looking at the Advanced Rights for User group, The refresh report data line says not granted. Also, my inherit rights from parent folders and groups is disabled. How can I change this so guests can refresh reports??

You could amend the advanced rights for the folder or object for the "Everyone" user group so that the right is "Explicitly Granted".

It may be better to use an alternative account rather the guest account and add that account into a specific user group that has the correct access. As a rule the "Everyone" should be setup to have "No Access" at the global level.

EG A new user could be created called Sales and this user could be placed into a security group called "VIEW" which has the rights set so that they can VIEW ON DEMAND or the group could be set to have Adavanced Rights with "Refresh Data" set as granted.

Let me know how you get on.

Hello,

I am very new to CE and would like to know more about the Guest user. We just recently installed CE and Guest is disabled. Could you please tell me the following:

- what is the function of Guest?
- Does the password need to be null?
- What is the advantage and disadvantage of using Guest to view reports?
- Is there security concerns when using Guest

Thank you very much.
