Every time I try to open a PDF in firefox - I get another window that pops up in Firefox that is blank, and then my adobe opens with an error saying that it can't open the PDF.

The error is:

Cannot use adobe Reader to view PDF in your web browser. Reader will now exit. Please press the refresh button in your browswer to start acrobat.

This happens with every PDF I have tried to open. I had to install adobe Professional - its 7.0 -- that's what is actually opening. anyone have any ideas on what I need to do to get this fixed?

PDF Files open fine in IE. I have windows XP.

thanks!!

I seem to vaguely remember that, when installing Adobe, it checks what browsers are installed and proposes to integrate itself with them.
Maybe you installed Firefox after installing Adobe, and it did not get the extension.
That said, I would either reinstall Adobe or, if you do not need Adobe per se, remove it entirely and install some of the free PDF readers that work quite well (I use the Brava Reader and it works fine on IE, Mozilla and in the OS).

Pascal.

You are awesome!!! I didn't even think to do that - but I did a repair instead of uninstalling - and it worked!! thanks for the suggestion.
