Error when opening attachment

I have a user that tries to open an attachment and gets an error "Can't find Object". The attachment is another e-mail that someone sent him. All other attachments open fine. The funny thing is, when you drag the attachment to the desk top you can see that it is an e-mail (Envelope icon) and the attachment will now open. Why will the attachment not open in the e-mail? This happens on all e-mail attchments.
