Error when linking table in Access to Informix

I have 20+ linked tables in my Access '97 DB. They are linked to an Informix DB via ODBC. For some reason whenever I try to link a table, I get an error. It happens at the point where I actually select the table(s) that I want to link and hit "OK". The error is:

"msaccess.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created."

When I re-open Access the table is present. When I try to view the table I get the following error:

"ODBC--call failed."

Followed by:

"[Informix][Informix ODBC Driver][Informix]No SELECT Permission. (#-272)"

Followed by:

"Microsoft Access can't open the table in Datasheet view."

I have completely removed MS Access (registry and all) from my system. Ditto for the DSNs. I have MDAC 2.7 installed.
I am using IBM Client-SDK 2.80 for ODBC. No changes have been made to either side besides the creation of tables and queries.

Does anyone have any suggestions or work arounds?

Thank you

Use Excel's MSQuery and try to view the Informix table via ODBC to see if it was an Access 97 problem.

The "No SELECT Permission" seems a clear problem. Do you have permission to access the tables and view the metadata? Use the Informix tool When you link, Access sends a ODBC request for the fields and indexes on the table.

You can also try to use a pass-through query in Access which, although it uses ODBC, does not have to provide Access any information on the table itself.
