I hit 9 to dial out, get second dial tone, and the set gives me 'error'

is there something I can read that is better than the book they gave us in class that explains ARS and routes, cause Im not understanding it.

im pretty sure its my routes thats the problem though.

edit: it gives me error after I have entered all the digits.

Have you tried the Help files while in the System Administration Tool? They are pretty good. If you are in a particular form, then you will be automatically taken to the help files for that form.

yeah but for me thats like figuring out how an engine goes together by looking at each piece individually, then putting it out of sight and looking at another piece.

im hoping there is some kind of big picture type thing I can read to help me figure this stuff out.

ARS needs to be built in reverse order.

Trunks need to be created
Trunk group created with member trunks (dont forget to add members!)
Digit Modification Table (Strip 9 insert pause)
Class of restriction table (USE blank COR for now)
Route Assignment (defines trk grp, COR, DigMod)
Digits Dialed assignment
Leading digits assignment

If the error tone is immediate on dialing the last digit check the COR then the Trunk group.
