Error when download file from IE6

When I tried to down load a file (small as 200KB) from any web sites, IE6 gave me the error as:
(say I try to down load a FixSbig.exe from Norton web site)

"Inter Explorer cannot download 'FixSbig.exe' from

http://www.norton.com.

Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site.
The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later."

It happened at any web sites.

I am using IE6 SP1, running W2000 with SP3. It was working before but it is not working now, I did not recently install any new softwares on this PC.

I have tried re-run IE6 SP1 with no luck.

Not a fix but a work around (be interested to know if it works), try right-clicking and Save Target As.
