error using ms project 2000

Hi can anyone help? One of my colleagues is using project 2000 on win2k os and keeps getting the following error message:

DDE server window: winproj.exe - Application error:

The instruction at "*?*?*" referenced memory at "???". The memory could not be "read".

Does your friend have SR-1 for Project 2000 installed? This solves some problems that cause the same type of error message.
