Error: unsupported network datatype or representation

Hello,
I added a Timestamp column to a table, added a trigger and ran a test on it, when I go to view the table I got an error message:

ORA-03115: unsupported network datatype or representation

this is ran on Toad. I also tried it in on sqlPlus, I get the same error.

Is there anyway to resolve it?

I think that your client software should be upgraded to a version supporting this data type.

I use sqlPlus and put in a desc of the table and noticed that the column I added has a datatype undefined. I redo the time-stamp column again, this time works. I think you are also correct on that about the version difference.
