Okay, someone please help me with this one. this has happened twice before and I always end up reloading linux.
I'm running RedHat 7.1 with KDE 2.0. I've had this problem where after rebooting for some reason or another and using the graphnical login, it loads kde but gets stuck on loading the panel. So I get my desktop background but nothing else! Don't ask me why this happens. I try to shut down XF86, but it goes to a black screen, and the whole computer locks up. So I have to press the reset switch. Linux starts to reload and saids that the drives weren't unmounted properly, force check. Then it saids "FAILED". Entry ' .mcoprc' in /home/user 99248) has an incorrect filetype (was 0t, should be 6)
/:UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY; RUN fsck MANUALLY. (i.e., without -a or -p options)
***An error occurred during the file system check.
***Dropping you to a shell; the sytem will reboot
***when you leave the shell.
Give root password for maintenance.
I type in the root password and it drops me to: (Repair filesystem) 1#
Now before this happened on another time, I was able to log in as root and KDE ran without a problem. It is when I log in as the default user (I only have two users: root and user)
Please help, I really don't want to reload linux again.
