Error trying to catalog backup files

BackupExec does our backups to a SNAP drive and I can keep only on weeks worth of backups on disk. I them copy the files from the SNAP drive to DVD. When I copy the files back to BackupExec and restart the services the files show up in the directory I copied them to. I can Inventory the files with any problem. When I try to Catalog the files I get the following error:
Job Failed: The data being read from the media is inconsistent.
There are the original files and I have tried different sets and still have the same problem.
Any ideas
