error symrealwinopen is undefined

after installing Office 2003 on my PC, O/S XP Home Ed., I receive now a run time error:
Run Time Error has occurred
Do you wish to DeBug
Line 289 'SymRealWinOpen' is undefined
I say No and then the same message comes up with Line 40

I searched in other sites, and the only recommendation I found was to repair Internet Explorer thru Add or Remove programs, in mine I.E. does not show up.
Any ideas how I can get rid of this annoying debug.
