We've recently transferred a computer's programs from one XP machine to another using the PCMover program. We have done this before a number of times, all successful up to this point.
But we are getting an error on Visual Basic 6 startup, note this error occurs before loading any projects - in a small window titled Data View, the error is "Method '~' of object '~' failed.".
We've tried uninstalling VB6, reinstalling plus putting on SP 5, but still get the error. We tried registering the Dataview.dll with REGSVR32 - while it was registered, it didn't solve our problem.
Another piece of data is that the data view icon doesn't show on the taskbar, BUT if I mouse over the button where it normally is, I get the tooltip "Data View". Doesn't work though. As far as we can tell, this seems to be the ONLY problem in VB 6 - we can load projects, compile etc. We never even use the Data View, we really just want to start VB6 without the error.
One last thing we tried is we also installed all our SDKs that our projects use, but the error still persists. Any ideas would be helpful and thanks in advance.
