I am trying to reinstall Windows 2000 Server - The Recovery Console (V5.0) has been installed. I would like to format the disk using the Recovery Console and then the reinstall. This is on a relatively new Dell PowerEdge 2600.
Trying to start Recovery Console by selecting 'Microsoft Windows 2000 Recovery Console' during boot up results in a blue screen with the following error message - '*** Stop: 0x0000007B (0xF2463848,0xC0000034,0x00000000.0x00000000) INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE'. This is followed by three paragraphs advising to check for viruses, deal with hard drives and/or controllers, run CHKDSK /F, etc.
Trying to start Recover Console from the Windows 2000 Server CD by selecting R for 'repair a Windows 2000 installation' results in an error message stating that 'Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer'.
I assume I could use a Windows 98 startup disk, boot to dos, use fdisk and then format, but I would rather do this through Win2000. But, what is happening with Recovery Console??
Please advise - Thanks - Gregory
