When I am importing data from a 3rd party application into my SQL server "SQL STATE = S1003" error appeares when the application tries to "Reset the cursor".

I think that the error occures when it tries to commit, but the error occures and it just does a rollback..(?)

Does any one know what causes this and how to solve it?

many thanks,
If I can solve this then it would solve a problem that we have company wide!!!

JUst exactly what method are you using to import the data?

The 'Application' downloads raw data from our hardware to a file on the local PC. The data is then normaly transfered to an MS Access file stored on the same PC, via ODBC. I deleted the ODBC settings and created a new one with the same name but pointing towards a database on a SQL server.

When running a trace, on the SQL server, I can see all the commands arriving, but as soon as the try to commit I recive this error on the Local PC.

(It has worked before, but only for a couple of Days, and I have not been able to recreate it since!)

Any more info that you need? ask.....

What kind of raw data? A comma delimted text file, an Excel file?
You can use DTS to import just about any kind of data there is. Look in Enterprise Manage under Data Transforamtion services to set up a DTS package. If it is a straight conversion you can use the import wizard. If you have to do much manipulation of data, you schould get a book on DTS and create a package without using the wizard.

AS a workaround, you could go back to creating and importing into Access and then use the import wizard to bring in the data from the Access table. But you should be able to find a way in DTS to actually directly import the data.

Good luck.
