I am getting the following error when I try to open Enterprise Manager.

Snap-In failed to Initialize.
Name: SQL Server Enterprise Manager
CLSID: {00100100-1816-8EFS-00AA0062C58F}

Is anyone familiar with this?

I've a feeling that happens when it can't find all the required dlls etc. The only time I've encountered that was trying to run EM one one machine (thru network) which was installed on another machine. codestorm

You probably want to install/re-install SQL Server Client Tools on the pc that is having the error (not on the SQL Server). This has also happened to me on a PC on which I had previously installed the client tools (and they worked correctly to administer some remote SQL servers), and on which I later installed a local copy of MSDE(SQL server desktop); to fix this, I had to re-install the SQL Client tools (on the SQL Server installation CD -- Enterprise, Standard or any other version -- just make sure that if you're running SQL Server 2000 that you use a SQL Server 2000 CD).
