Hi everyone, I just set up my Outlook 5 Client and have come across the following problem:

The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was 'Bla@blacollege.com'. Subject 'Re: hi', Account: 'pop-server.nyu.eu.com', Server: 'smtp-server.nyu.eu.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 5.7.1 <Bla@blacollege.com'>... Relaying denied. IP name lookup failed [206.251.153.6]', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

I have no idea why it is happening from this new location as it worked fine yesterday! I can only receive email, but I cannot send any. The settings for my SMTP and POP servers are exactly the same at all locations, but it wont send messages from the new on. As I said it worked yesterday.

Anyone have any idea what could be the problem??

Thanks

NT

Whatever you have listed as your outgoing mail server is not allowing mail relay.

Let's say you have two internet providers you use. ABC as one internet provider and 123 as the second ISP (i.e. for instance like your DSL or Cable provider is the second ISP). What it looks like you are doing is dialed or connecthing through the 123 ISP but trying to get your mail and send mail using the ABC mail servers. Some ISP (most ISP's) don't allow this for sending mail only because of SPAM abusers. Downloading your mail would not be a problem in this scenario.

Make sure you are using the outgoing mail server for whomever is providing your Internet connection if your ISP does not allow mail relay.

Thank you so much! I must have overlooked this as I am at a new place and this is the only site that I can't send mail from. All of the other places I have the client set up, it works ok. The funny thing is, it worked AOK the very first day I set it up in here. Receiving is no prob but sending became the issue after the second day....

Thank you again!
