I have a strange problem where I am receiving an error "Server error: You are not authorized to use the server" when sending mail to a group from an application which which sends smtp mail.
Other mail to other groups work fine, but I have three groups which are just not working. This is a production system with many people in the group so hard to test - I did replace the users in the group with my own email address and it worked fine.
I can not see any corruption in the group members and was apparently working upto this week. No changes to the server have been made, but there were changes to the groups by our helpdesk.

Any suggestion would appreciated.

What you could check:
- Are the affected groups multi-purpose or perhaps 'Access Only'? They should be 'Multi-Purpose'.
- Is the access of the groups limited (e.g. are only certain people or servers allowed to use them?)
- Are there people listed in the group that are also listed in the #No-Access group of your names.nsf?
- Are you using any outbound SMTP-restrictions where certain users are not allowed to send mails and these users are listed in these groups?

Thanks Geier

I resolved the issue by deleting\adding the members of the group again.
We did some testing by just adding myself to the group and it worked fine, so we added back the normal group members and its been running fine for a week now. It was strange this was occuring on three groups and may have had some corruption of the group members etc.

Thanks

Dave
