Hi there.

We have a user (on NT4 o/s) using Word 97.

When she tries to save her document, no matter how simple (i.e. a blank document with the file name test.doc) to a specific network drive, she gets a message to say:

This is not a valid file name. Check one of the following:
- Check the path is typed correctly
- Select a file from the list of files & folders
(\\IPADDRESS\directory path\...\test.doc)

The strange things are:

1) She can access other files on the network drive
2) She can save to other network drives
3) She can copy the file (after saving elsewhere) to the said network drive
4) She can't save to any directory on that network drive
5) She CAN save Excel or PowerPoint files to any directory on that netowrk drive.

She saved a file to another network drive and copied it over to the troublesome network drive. When she opened the document it said it was unreadable, so corrupt somewhere along the line.

She is based in London and connects to our office 100 miles away via another gateway on her site. I can remote control in to her - there are no network problems that I can see.

Any advice?

Also....to elaborate on the document being unreadable once copied to troublesome network drive from elsewhere is:

There has been a network or file permission error. The network connection may be lost"

<So not actually corrupt & unreadable really!>

Looks good, I will give it a go & feedback results.

Thanks.
