Error running adprep /forestprep

Hi, I was running adprep /forestprep on my schema master to make the preparations for integrating a new W2003-server as a DC in my AD. I got following error message:
ERROR: Failed to transfer the schema FSMO role: 52 (Unavailable)

What went wrong?

Hiya!

I've had a problem while I ran adprep /forestprep to install Ex2k3 into 2k3 domain server's farm.

Result was:
Error code: 0x20. Server extended error code: 0x208d,[following number of CN object, which was a DC]

Due to major hardware problem I removed this DC (dcpromo /forceremoval switch) from ADS one month ago.


I deleted DNS entry, as well ADSIedit objs; however there is still one object within AD.

I know the number of this CN object and I am wondering:
is there a kind of "search" util to discover this object and delete it?

Hi,

I had this problem when upgrading a Windows 2000 server to Exchange 2003, I got around this by transferring the Schema master role to another DC and then transferring this back to the server in question, forestprep then ran through without any problems.
