i try to insert media new from bx and i get message:

" Media '4MM001135' is overwrite protected.
The media in drive 'COMPAQ 2' is currently allocated and is not available for overwrite operations "

and after i insert "respond ok" i get this message:

" Please insert overwritable media into the drive.
Overwritable media includes scratch, blank, and recyclable media. Please note that depending on the current Media Overwrite Protection setting, imported and allocated media may be overwritable as well. Consult the online help for more information on overwritable media. "

the problem is not in media i insert 4 new media.

Three suggestions for you to try....

First, make sure the tab on the tape isn't in the lock/read-only position.

Second, put the tape in, right-click on the tape, select Label Media.

Third, are these tapes part of a media set? If so, click on the media set and change the overwrite protection time.

Maybe one of those will solve your problem.

Just an addition to SQLBill's:

Third, are these tapes part of a media set? If so, click on the media set and change the overwrite protection time.

Try click Tools/options, on the media overite tab select none to disable overwrite protection altogether.

Good Luck!
