Hi, Guys,

I need your help. This problem almost drives me crazy, and I just can't find any clue.

My machine:IBM7044-170 used for testing programs.
OS: AIX4.3.3 with ML: 10

On my PC(W2K), I could connect to other AIX machines using Xmanager, but faied when connecting to this 7044-170. The message "Couldn't open console" appeared on the right_top of my screen, the normal CDE login interface was just blank window and the Xsession seemed hung.

But, everything seemes normal when I connect to it via telnet. And there's no problem in errpt and log files.

Some detail info is listed below:

Is the X-Server on AIX is set to accept connections from your PC?

eg xhost +
or xhost +yourpcname

Yeh. The X-Server accepted any connections from any PC.

Any causes?

Finally, the problem was fixed.

Cause: One main Xserver configuration file:
/etc/dt/config/Xconfig was missing. Hence, the Xserver process dtgreet couldn't be started, instead, another the Xserver hung with process: ksh /usr/dt/configXsetup.

Solution: #cp /usr/dt/config/Xconfig /etc/dt/config/
