Hello,
I'm trying to install a new application on my server and I got the following error message:
Check: Required Packages
Error: Only Solaris SUNWCrnet cluster is installed
Installation cannot continue. Please upgrade the OS first.

Ok I do understand that I need to install packages, but don't know which one and don't know how to verify it.

Since I have very limited knowledge on Solaris package. Is anyone would give me direction on where to start and how to install packages.

I tried smpatch update , but I got:
# smpatch update
Failure: Unknown host (getupdates1.sun.com) connecting to #
I may need to setup the /etc/resolv.conf + /etc/nsswitch.files .conf too.

Thanks,
Sylvain

What application is it, and what version of Solaris are you installing it on?

Annihilannic.

It's Solaris 10 and the Application is Alcatel-Lucent 5620 SAM...

When you install Solaris you are prompted to choose the 'cluster' of packages that are initially installed. SUNWCrnet is a minimal selection of packages, described as "A pre-defined software configuration consisting of the minimum required software for a system with reduced network support". It definitely doesn't sound appropriate for SAM.

You will either need to reinstall Solaris using a more appropriate selection of packages, or manually install them from the installation media - I'm not sure how to do that, but it's probably possible.

Annihilannic.

I meant to say... information about the clusters is available in /var/sadm/system/admin/.clustertoc, and the cluster you installed is recorded in /var/sadm/system/admin/CLUSTER.

Like you said I may need to re-install Solaris instead to dig too much and it will take less time than trying to install required packages.
But as you pointed the directory /var/sadm/admin/
Here is the output of my server:
bash-3.00# pwd
/var/sadm/system/admin
bash-3.00# ls -la
total 6
drwxr-xr-x 3 root sys 512 Mar 3 15:01 .
drwxr-xr-x 5 root sys 512 Apr 15 15:10 ..
drwxr-xr-x 2 root sys 512 Mar 3 15:01 services
bash-3.00#

I don't see even the Clusters at all... So I will re-install, but this time not in minimal...

Thanks

Hello Annihilannic,

You pointed out the right direction.
Since it's a virtual server, we had to copy from the Global Zone the CLUSTER and INST_RELEASE files to our zone. I don't know if a link would had do the job, but we made it work like this.
cp /var/sadm/system/admin/CLUSTER /export/home/zone_name/root/var/sadm/system/admin/

It worked and thanks for your direction,

Sylvain
