Hello,
I'm getting the following error when I attempt to start up postgres:
LOG: could not create IPv6 socket: Address family not supported by protocol

I have started, stopped postgres several times throughout the past months and have never seen this error. thanks for any help in advance!

Hi ksbrace,

You might do a google on the exact error message and see if you get any hit that might give a clue about what is going on.

Looks like ipv6 isn't supported by the kernel on the machine you are starting up on. Did they recently install a new kernel maybe? I am new to postgresql, and have NEVER touched ipv6, but I'd be looking into my postgresql.conf file and finding how ipv6 got enabled and comment it out! ;-)
