When I launch Paradox 8 it open with project viewer.

Then I get two errors:

An error was triggered in the 'Save CFG' method of an object of Session type.

When I close that windo I get:

Cannot write to engine configuration file.

Any ideas?

Thanks . . . Rick

You didn't install as Administrator, and don't have rights to the BDE directory.

Sounds like. As I suggested before.

SaveCFG is trying to save alias info, which is done in the engine configuration file.

Give EVERYONE FULL RIGHTS to the BDE directory. Likely search for idapi32.cfg and it will be in that directory.

But what do I do with that file, idapi32.cfg? It's a configueration file right?

Each time I tried to uninstall the programs the uninstall program DID NOT recognize either Version of paradox on the hard drive. Strange!

So I had to delete the folders, scan the registry, junk file, broken shortcut, ets and remove them.

Problem was I missed the:

C:\Program Files\Boreland\Common Files\BDE folder.

After I deleted this folder Paradox 7 installed successfully and works fine.

I'm not gettin close to Version 8 again.

Thanks Tony . . . Rick

Idapi32.cfg holds all your BDE settings.

Also, you can turn project viewer off in Preferences.

Or add the -c switch to the icon that starts Paradox.

There isn't anything wrong with P8, per se. Just some configuration issue(s) with your system.
