Error occured while accessing component property

Hi, running a Legal application called Videss which runs on a Progress 91E database.

When running Videss via a terminal services session and you try to send an email from Videss it comes up with this error:-

Error occured while accessing component property/method: add. You don't have appropriate permission to perform this operation. Error code: 0X80020009 create_new_email outlook.p (5890)

This error only comes up when running Videss using Terminal Services.

Can anyone help? Thank you, Damien

for terminal services what are the users rights? what os is your db on?

Hi, thank you for responding.

The terminal server is a domain member server, so I have added the 'domain users' group to the local 'remote desktop users' group on the terminal server. Apart from this I have not changed any other user rights.

Do I need to assign user rights such as 'act as part of the operating system' to the remote desktop group in order to resolve this problem?

I do not know what user rights I need to assign as the error does not specifically say where the lack of permissions is originating from.

i would first look at the file create_new_email outlook.p and its corresponding .r and see if the user(s) with the terminal services account have rights to that file / folder. did this just start happening? if so sounds like someone changed permissions or allowed somewhere ih this folder tree to inherit permissions where it should not.

I have searched the terminal server and there is not a file called create_new_email outlook.p

This file does not exist on the main database server either, although there are lots of other *.p and *.r files located on the server, but none remotely like the above.

This is a new terminal server and the Videss client has been installed and is working correctly apart from this email integration problem.

Should this file be located somewhere? Clients not connecting via terminal services have outlook integration working ok and do not recieve this error message.

that .p and .r has to be somewhere. the files would either be on the db server or on an application server (the server that the clients connect to to run your application).

Thank you for everyone's help.

I have resolved the issue - here's how.

On the progress server there is a file called proggui.dat which specifies some options including the location of temporary files (-T). Whatever location this points too assign the appropriate write permissions to the corresponding folder, and the error no longer appears.
