Hello,

I keep recieving the error Number: 3709, source: ADODB.Recordset, Description: Operation is not allowed on an object referencing a closed or invalid connection.
I'm running IIS 4.0 with Frontpage extensions. It's on a NT 4.0 server with service pack 4 installed.
I'm attempting to access an Access database on another machine that is a member of an Access workgroup. I've tried using a file DSN's and system DSN's (with the workgroup file information included), but continue to recieve this error.
I devolped on 98 using Visual Interdev and it connects fine, but it refuses to on the NT. I have Visual Interdev on the NT machine and in design time it can see the database, but when I attempt to bring it up in the browser I continue to recieve this error.
I'd move the database to the IIS machine, but was told that this would create security problems.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks!
Evie

Do you have a correctly mapped drive?
You have to remeber that the ISUR_Machine name user is used on IIS as the connected user. This is a machine specific user and does not have domain level privilages. This might be your problem - the mapped drive is not present, and you also do not have the correct access rights to the directory/share/database file!

I checked the drives, they are mapped correctly. And I changed the IIS connected user name to my login, which is present on the machine I'm trying to connect to and in the workgroup. I still recieved the error 3709.
BTW, IIS, the database and the workgroup file are all located on different pc's.

That did solve the problem. Thanks!
Do you know why they have to be in the same directory?

Thanks again!
