Hi All,

I have problems connecting to "secured" online web sites. I am able to log into other web pages.

I am also not able to log into Windows Update. I get Error number: 0x80072EFD.

I have read online solutions .... disabling the Norton Firewall and Windows Firewall. Adding the *windows* update to tools->Internet Options ...-> "trusted sites".

Nothing has worked. I wouldn't want to reformat my drive. Pls. help.

Thanks.

You receive an "Error 0x80072EE2" or "Error 0x80072EFD" error message when you try to use Windows Update

Make sure you are an Administrator user. And make sure your firewall is not blocking ActiveX or Javascripts.
Disabling a firewall might not be sufficient as any setting may remain in place. It must be properly configured to allow your access to Windows Update and other secure sites.

You should also clear any Temporary Internet Files too as the rejected sites will linger in there and may also cause a problem.
